Description: The Citrus Research and Education Center (CREC) is seeking candidates for one full-time postdoc position to aid and support the faculty member in Plant Pathology at CREC. The position is located at CREC in Lake Alfred, Florida.
Responsibilities: Undersupervision of the Plant Pathology faculty member, the postdocs in this position are expected to conduct research experiments, collect data, calculate or record results, prepare reports, and write journal articles. The responsibility of the positions is to characterize the interaction between Candidatus Liberibacter asiaticus and citrus using genome editing, biochemical, and genetic approaches and generating nontransgenic citrus plants using CRISPR mediated genome editing.
The position is available immediately.
Recent Ph.D. in Molecular Plant Biology, Plant Pathology, or related field. A significant record of productivity as demonstrated through refereed publications is preferred. Candidates with experience in genome editing, RNAi, and molecular plant-microbe interactions are especially encouraged to apply. The candidate should demonstrate a commitment to work cooperatively, must be able to work independently as well as part of a team, have a willingness to learn, and possess strong written and verbal communication skills.
