The research group Genomics of Genetic Resources (GGR) is looking for staff scientist (non-tenured) in the area of cereal genomics, starting in September 2022. Our research focus is on small grain cereal genome analysis with activities in pan-genome analysis of several domesticated and wild small grain cereal species.
Our group is part of the IPK Genebank Department, hence we take advantage of the vast crop diversity represented in IPK`s seed collection. As such, we are actively joining in the effort of evolving the current Genebank into a Bio-digital Resources Center
Your tasks:
- You conduct research and then publish it.
- You participate in project management.
- You develop your own research profile.
- You supervise technical staff and students.
- You contribute to teaching at the master`s level.
Your qualifications and skills:
- You have a PhD in Biology or equivalent and are in the postdoctoral phase within 6 years of having completed your PhD.
- You have expertise in molecular genetics and genomics.
- You have experience with Next Generation Sequencing methods.
- You have broad bioinformatics experience in areas such as: genomics, genome assembly, GWAS, population-/phylo-genetics, etc.
- Experience with R and Linux in a cluster environment are desirable.

- A full-time position 40-hours per week.
