Our newly established research group at the Center for Plant Molecular Biology (ZMBP), University of Tübingen, Germany, is looking for a highly motivated and talented PhD student:
PhD position in
Cell polarity establishment in the early plant embryo

The ideal applicant should have a background in molecular biology, genetics and/or biochemistry.

This third-party funded project focuses on cell polarity establishment in the zygote of the model plant Arabidopsis thaliana and cell fate acquisition in the resulting daughter cells in the early embryo. We are addressing molecular mechanisms of signal perception and transduction in asymmetric cell divisions using the ERECTA-YODA pathway as prototype MAP kinase signaling pathway. We are offering a stimulating, interactive work environment with state-of-the-art equipment.

Interested candidates can apply immediately or until the position is filled. Preferred start date would be July 2022. Applications including a short motivation statement, CV, research experience and contact details of two references will be accepted until the position is filled.

The University of Tübingen is committed to increase the proportion of women in Science and qualified women are particularly encouraged to apply. Equally qualified applicants with disabilities will be given preference. Formal employment procedures will be carried out by the central administration of the University of Tübingen. Salary and benefits are according to TV-L E13 in agreement with the guidelines of the University of Tübingen and the DFG.

Applicants should be highly motivated and technically versatile, ideally with a drive to work at the intersection of developmental genetics and protein biochemistry in an interactive, collaborative group. For more details, visit our lab website www.bayerlab.org or contact us directly.
