The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL is part of the ETH Domain. Approximately 600 people work on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards.

The Research Unit Forest Dynamics assesses the effects of changing environmental conditions on forest ecosystem functioning. Within a project funded by the Swiss National Science Foundation, starting August 2022, we offer a one-year position for a Post-Doc in Plant ecohydrology and Tree-ring research (80-100%)

You will be responsible for carrying out field experiments on forest sites of the Long-term Forest Monitoring Program (LWF) in Switzerland, as well as laboratory work in our stable isotope and tree ring laboratories. You will apply novel methods for determining stable isotopes in carbon reserves and tree-rings. You will work with unique longer-term water isotope records, as well as apply and improve mechanistic isotope models for reconstructing the spatiotemporal dynamics of tree water uptake over several years and write the corresponding publications.

You hold a PhD degree in plant ecohydrology, physiology, dendrochronology, environmental science or in an equivalent field. Proven experience in experimental work is mandatory, while knowledge in stable isotope research is favorable. You possess strong skills in analyzing data and in writing scientific articles.
