Postdoc (m/f/d) in forest modelling and statistical ecology
starting as early as possible for a duration of one year, with intended extension for another year. The 100 % position (40,1 hours per week) will be paid according to German public-sector level TV-L E13. Part-time employment is principally possible.
Your responsibilities:
You will contribute to the development of a demographic forest simulation model and calibrate it using extensive European forest data and Bayesian methods (model-data integration). You will also project future forest development and associated uncertainties under different climate scenarios and formulate adaptation strategies for forest management. The position is part of the junior research group BayForDemo, which is funded by the Bavarian Climate Research Network bayklif.
Your profile:
- a dissertation in natural sciences with a profound knowledge of quantitative methods and ecology
- experience with ecological simulation models and ideally Bayesian methods
- very good knowledge of statistics and R, ideally also in a general programming language, e.g. C++/Python
- team orientation, independent working style and high motivation to advance ecological theory and modelling
- excellent knowledge of English, proven publication experience and enthusiasm for scientific writing
