The Department of Agricultural Economics and Rural Development of the University of Goettingen has an opening for a short-term research assistant position (all genders are welcomed) starting as soon as possible. The position will be at the Chair of International Food Economics and Rural Development. The research assistant will work under the supervision of Dr. Bethelhem Legesse Debela. The position is limited until 31.03.2023 and the candidate is paid according to salary scale TVL-E13 (50%).

Your tasks
The research assistant will be involved in research activities at the chair which includes analysis of large data sets at the micro level, literature review of relevant topics and involve in relevant research projects at the chair. The position particularly requires involvement in research topics focusing on gender aspects, nutrition, health, and other dimensions of human welfare in the context of developing countries. Analyses typically employ applied econometric techniques with micro level data, mostly at the individual level. Your profile
The applicant should have a strong command of applied research in development economics, agricultural economics, or a related discipline with very good academic records; be familiar with quantitative research techniques in applied economics (especially econometrics); and have excellent oral and written English language skills. The applicant must have a MSc degree in the stated disciplines.

Experience with handling micro level large panel data sets from developing countries would be an asset. Further, theoretical knowledge and understanding on the topics of gender aspects, nutrition, health, and other dimensions of human welfare in development context are particularly relevant for the position.
