About the Role
The Hawkesbury Institute for the Environment is seeking a highly motivated Postdoctoral Research Fellow in Soil and Plant Microbiomes to join the team. The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will focus on research related to soil and plant microbiomes and how these respond to biotic and abiotic stressors.
The project linked to this position seeks to:
(a) develop an understanding of agriculture practices on soil biology and productivity and how these change with other biotic and abiotic stresses, and
(b) to provide knowledge for the development of microbial/ soil-based tools for sustainable farming into the future.
The Postdoctoral Research Fellow will conduct research examining fundamental processes of soil and/or plant assemblages and how management practices impact soil biology, plant productivity and environmental quality. The project will use a range of analytical procedures including state-of-the-art next-generation sequencing, in addition to soil/plant health measures to characterise how these variables are impacted by management practices.
The Fellow will liaise with industry partners and clearly communicate research outcomes, will communicate findings at scientific meetings and publish research in high-impact international journals. A tailored career mentoring plan will be developed and will include opportunities to contribute to teaching and supervising Masters and PhD students as well as leadership and engagement.

Remuneration Package: Academic Level A $100,686 to $121,646 p.a.
