The Department of Plant Pathology at North Dakota State University has a research specialist position available to conduct applied and molecular plant pathology research on rust diseases in wheat and other economically important crops in North Dakota. The position is considered permanent with full benefits as per the current policies of North Dakota Agricultural Experiment Station and subject to job performance.
The individual will 1) manage all aspects of planning, coordinating, and conducting field trials, greenhouse, and laboratory experiments, 2) assist research personnel in experiments, data analysis, and publication of manuscripts/reports, 3) coordinate smooth and efficient operations in laboratory, greenhouses, and field locations by working cooperatively with other staff, faculty and ag professionals, and maintaining an up to date inventory of seed, pathogen isolates, research supplies, and other resources in the program, 4) develop efficient laboratory and greenhouse protocols, 5) communicate and cooperate with public and private sector stakeholders.Inquiries should be directed to Dr. Upinder Gill (upinder.gill@ndsu.edu)
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor of Science Degree in Plant Pathology, Plant Sciences, Microbiology, Biology, Biology or a closely related discipline
- Experience working with plant pathogens and plant diseases
- Experience with applied research on plant disease resistance
- Experience with molecular techniques
- Ability to communicate effectively in English
- Ability to work independently and as a member of a team.
Preferred Qualifications:
- M.S. in Plant Pathology or closely related discipline
- Experience working with rust diseases of economically important crops
- Experience with lab management and employee supervision
- Experience with statistical analysis
- Experience with genomics data analysis.
Salary: $45,000+ /year commensurate with experience
