Post-doctoral Researcher in genetics of haploid induction in plants
A post-doctoral researcher position is available in the Comai laboratory. The Comai laboratory is a plant genomics laboratory at the University of California at Davis. and affiliated with the department of Plant Biology. It is located in the Genome Center, a state-of-the-art genomic research facility, and has an existing staff of about fifteen people).

We are looking for a candidate with experience and strong interest in plant genetics and genomics to integrate an NSF-funded project aimed at investigating the mechanisms underlying haploid induction in potato. The research involves genetic analysis and gene mapping, as well as possibly cytology, genomics, bioinformatics, molecular biology, and other related techniques.

The successful candidate will be expected to work collaboratively with other members in the group, participate in lab meetings, departmental retreats and train graduate and undergraduate students.

Your profile
– You have a solid background in plant genetics, genotyping and plant growth and maintenance.
– You enjoy working in a team and ongoing discussion between multiple researchers, you are a good
communicator both to scientists and other collaborators
– You have experience publishing your results in peer-reviewed journals
– You are an independent and critical thinker who cares about robust, reproducible results and well-organized pedigrees
– Experience with plant cytogenetics, whole-genome sequencing, bioinformatics, programming languages, or breeding in a polyploid species is a plus. This appointment is 100% time with an annual rate consistent with the NIH-recommended salary scale, based on previous experience.
