The agriphotovoltaik (APV) project VAckerBio is aiming to test and analyse vertical APV units in combination with arable farming together with the project partners Fraunhofer ISE and Next2Sun. A field trial is implemented at the site in Wellingen (Saarland). Aim of this project is to assesss the impact of the vertical APV unit on crop production, yield and crop production costs.
Further different manamgement concepts will be developed and tested for the area underneath the vertical APV modules aiming to utilize such areas for biodiversity promotion without impacting the crop production in the stripes between the modules and the PV power yield.
This position is foreseen for a PhD student and after the end of the limited initial contract an extension for three more years is intended. The tasks include the implementation of the field trials, incl. data collection and analysis, publication of results in scientific papers and conferences, contribution to dissemination of project results and to project proposals for continuing the scientific work.
A academic degree (MSc.) in agriculture or similar is required. Good german language skills and a driving license B is required. First experiences in field trial management, data collection and analysis (incl. image analysis) or a license for UAV is advantageous.
