Environmental Psychology Innovation Center (EPIC) in the Biology Department at University of Miami (Go Canes!) is seeking a PhD student to begin August 2023 or sooner. Led by Dr. Delia Shelton, the lab will conduct field and lab experiments to understand how environmental features (e.g., pollutants, cadmium, PFAS, lead, vegetation, temperature) affect social behavior using zebrafish, neuroscience, advanced chemistry, social networks and molecular biology.
The lab is supported National Institute for Environmental Health and Safety R00 grant. We study the environmental determinants of social behavior in wild and domesticated animals. We use field and lab studies to understand the neural and genetic mechanisms that underlie environmentally-induced behavior.
Qualifications:
Bachelor’s of science by matriculation
Experience with zebrafish, toxicology, animal behavior, chemistry preferred, but not required.
