The Chair of Phytopathology at the Technical University of Munich, TUM School of Life Sciences at Freising-Weihenstephan hires a Postdoc/Scientist/Group Leader in Molecular Phytopathology
The candidate should focus and develop research on molecular and cell biological plant pathology. Research should focus on barley crops in close collaboration with the chair´s working group “Molecular Phytopathology” (https://www1.ls.tum.de/en/pp/research-divisions/). Possible research areas are to develop, improve and apply barley quantitative cell biology or genome editing techniques in crops to study molecular crop plant pathogen interactions. The applicant must have a very good MSc degree and an excellent doctoral degree in biology, biochemistry or agricultural biosciences with a strong theoretical background and extensive hands-on experience documented through first author peer-reviewed publications.
Knowledge and practical experience in plant pathology (e.g. molecular cell biology, host-parasite interaction, genetics) is expected. We are looking for a highly motivated candidate who is able to plan and conduct research independently, works well in a team and has a strong interest in basic and applied molecular plant sciences. Excellent English skills, both written and spoken, are essential. German language skills are of advantage. Position is associated with teaching obligations of 5 hours (semester periods) per week.
We offer an international and scientifically stimulating surrounding with focus on basic molecular plant sciences. Furthermore, we aim to develop the scientific basis for understanding and improvement of crop plants for the future. The salary is according to German income level TV-L E13/A13 (wissenschaftlicher Mitarbeiter/Assistent or akademischer Rat auf Zeit). The first employment contract will be restricted to three years. Subsequent terminated employment is possible according to the usual legal framework.
