The Department of Agriculture, Food, and Nutrition, Campus Triesdorf, invites applications for the position of a Professorship in “Sustainable and Resilient Farming and Food Systems” (salary group W2, tenured position) expected to start in the summer semester 2023 or commencing as soon as possible.
Responsibilities in Teaching and Research:
Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences seeks to appoint a candidate for a professorship, which involves a high proportion of research. In practice, this means that the position entails a reduced teaching load, which may amount to a maximum of 50 percent of regular teaching duties. The reduced teaching load is initially limited to a period of five years with the option of a further extension period. We are looking for a candidate who will initiate research activities and prepare publications in the field of international farming and food systems and who will develop and implement strategies for sustainable and resilient farming systems within the framework of international networks. This includes, in particular, the acquisition of third-party funded projects with international partners.
A close cooperation with the partner universities of Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences is expected. In addition, the incumbent shall maintain contacts with corporate partners in and outside of Germany as well as lend support to the further expansion of the university’s cooperation network and the acquisition of practice partners. In addition to research, the professorship shall cover teaching in the field of applied agricultural economy in both the undergraduate degree programs and the postgraduate study programs. Most of our lectures and courses are in English. We expect the incumbent to play an active role in the further development of applied research. Responsibilities of the professorship include the supervision of internships, project papers and theses, teaching courses in English language as well as participation in academic self-administration. The ability to teach specialized topics in adjacent fields of research is highly desired. Your Profile:
Weihenstephan-Triesdorf University of Applied Sciences is looking for an individual with a university degree in agricultural sciences, ideally with a focus on business management. We expect the successful applicant to have international research experience in the field of applied agricultural sciences. In addition, we expect you to be well connected in the international research landscape and to bring experience in the acquisition and management of international projects. Moreover, you have a very good command of English and you are able to confidently apply these English skills in your teaching. Ideally, you have already gained teaching experience and acquired good didactic skills as well as solid professional experience in the aforementioned areas. A high degree of sociability and communication skills, a collaborative working style as well as commitment and enthusiasm for the position further characterize your personality.
Requirements:
- completed first university degree
- pedagogical aptitude
- particular ability for scientific and scholarly work as proven by a doctoral degree or comparable academic qualification (in German: “Gutachten über promotionsadäquate Leistungen”)
- furthermore, we require expertise in the application or development of scientific findings and methods obtained during a period of at least five years of professional practice after graduation from university; of these, at least three years must be in a field outside university; professional experience outside university might be recognized if the candidate has spent a significant part of the position working in a cooperation between university and non-university institutions for a minimum of five years
