The Swiss Federal Institute for Forest, Snow and Landscape Research WSL focuses on the sustainable use and protection of the environment and on the handling of natural hazards. WSL is part of the ETH Domain and employs approximately 600 people, of whom 10 are based in Lausanne.
The Functional Plant Ecology at the WSL Site in Lausanne (located on the campus of EPFL) is looking from March 2023 or by arrangement, for the duration of 1 year, for a PostDoc in Physiological Ecology (f/m/d)
In this position, you will develop projects together with lab members and international collaborators. The Plant Ecology Research Lab studies the physiological responses of trees to heat and drought from the cellular to the ecosystem-scale. As a PostDoc, you will be given freedom to explore questions and develop projects pertinent to their interests and experiences. These should overlap with the ongoing themes in the lab. You will have access to state-of-the-art ecophysiological equipment, open-top chambers, and field site experimental manipulation facilities. This position will also involve teaching at the bachelor- and/or master-level.
You hold a PhD degree in tree physiology, physiological ecology, global change biology, ecological modeling, or related field. Experience carrying out manipulation experiments and examining plant physiological responses is highly desirable. Strong quantitative skills are also highly desired. You are experienced in publishing scientific articles with high international impact. As an experienced team player, you possess good oral and written communication skills in English. Experience in teaching and student supervision would be an advantage. Furthermore, you are well-organized and capable of working independently and efficiently.
