POSITION SYNOPSIS: Understanding how to foster sustainable and long-term resilient agroecosystems in an altered climate remains challenging. Such knowledge is crucial for grasslands that account for ~70% of the global agricultural production area. This research aims to address how different land management and grazing regimes interact to affect grassland ecosystem services under future climate variability and the extent to which manipulation of grazing could serve as adaptations to enhance climate resilience of grasslands. Knowledge obtained from this project will be integrated into decision support tools to guide climate adaptations and inform innovative best management practices.

Salary and benefits: It is a fully-funded PhD position, and selected candidate will be offered a competitive annual stipend as well as comprehensive health insurance and full tuition waiver.
- Interest and experience in ecosystem service, landscape ecology, and/or global change ecology
- MS degree in a related field (e.g., ecology, soil science, biogeochemistry, environmental science)
- Experience in conducting field studies and lab analyses of plant, soil, and gas samples
- Demonstrated quantitative skills (e.g., statistics, GIS, modeling, etc.)
- Strong motivation and independent research abilities with teamwork spirit and social skills
- Excellent English written and verbal communication skills
- Experience in publishing in peer-reviewed scientific journals
