The Free University of Bozen-Bolzano was founded in 1997. Our university has a strong international outlook, as testified by its multilingual courses (German, Italian, English and Ladin) and the high number of students and teaching staff from abroad. If, on one hand, many of our research projects tackle global environmental, economic, social or technology topics, on the other hand many are deeply rooted in our region. They address the current issues of sustainable use of resources, socio-economic development and lifelong learning within the Alps. The main features of our research are interdisciplinary collaboration and interaction with local companies. Despite its recent foundation, unibz in the past few years has already established itself as an important research institution, both in Italy and abroad.
