The graduate assistant will work in the laboratory of Vincenzo Ellis on projects related to the evolution and ecology of avian malaria parasites. Duties may include field work in the spring and summer (mist-netting and taking samples from passerines), laboratory work (DNA extraction, PCR, DNA sequencing), bioinformatics and data analysis, and writing.

The Ellis Lab is a collaborative environment with several on-going projects and graduate students and there are opportunities to participate in several types of disease ecology projects. Our research focus is molecular disease ecology with overarching interests in the evolution of host specificity, pathogen dispersal, and coevolution.

Qualifications B.A. or B.S. in biology, ecology, evolution, wildlife biology or related field.
