University of Central Missouri is a public institution that was founded in 1871. Financial support, in the form of stipend and tuition waiver/scholarship are expected for two teaching assistantship positions. Support through faculty secured research grants is also available in some cases.

Areas of faculty expertise include: Botany Cell Biology Comparative Physiology Conservation Developmental Biology Entomology Evolutionary Biology General Ecology Genetics Genomics Ichthyology Mammalogy Microbiology Molecular Biology Ornithology Parasitology Reproductive Physiology Stress Physiology Biology MS students will have full access to equipment and facilities operated by the Department of Biological and Clinical Sciences.

These resources include recently updated laboratories dedicated to research in molecular biology and wildlife biology, an R-Class animal care facility, greenhouse, department vehicles/boat, multiple curated collections, and numerous pieces of specialized equipment that are required to produce publishable results in today’s scientific literature.

Graduate students have the opportunity to conduct laboratory experiments, field research, or a combination. UCM Faculty members maintain professional and academic collaborations in their field of study, and this creates a network utilized to facilitate student transition from graduate school to their next career position. Qualifications: include a minimum of 30 semester hours in biology, 8 hours of chemistry, and a statistics course with at least a 2.75 GPA overall.
