Within the framework of the European Biodiversa+ project “Microbial Diversity, Ecosystem Services of the Soil Microbiome and Ecosystem Conservation,” a post-doc position is open to work on soil microbial ecology.

The post-doc will analyse the role of soil microbes as engineers of ecosystem properties. In particular, they will analyse the role of the soil microbial community on soil carbon storage and the formation of soil aggregates. A particular focus will be placed on how plant root traits impact microbial communities within soil aggregates. Through collaborative work, polysaccharides and aminosugars will be measured in aggregates and related to the abundance of selected genes.

Fieldwork will be performed in the Belledonne range, French Alps. The postdoc will be expected to work closely with scientists in Finland, Estonia, Italy, Serbia, Spain and Brazil. The post-doc will be accompanied by a research assistant. Contract length is 24 months.
