Within the framework of the European Biodiversa+ project “Microbial Diversity, Ecosystem Services of the Soil Microbiome and Ecosystem Conservation,” a position of research assistant is open to work on soil properties and plant traits.
The research assistant will sample soil and vegetation in the French Alps and prepare samples for analyses. Soil aggregates will be sorted and structural stability tests performed. Plant traits will be measured and a focus placed on fine root traits. The research assistant will work closely with a post-doc who will analyse the role of the soil microbial community on soil carbon storage and the formation of soil aggregates.
Fieldwork will be performed in forests in the Belledonne range, French Alps. Contract length is 12 months.
Requirements:
Research Field: Environmental science » Ecology
Education Level: Master Degree or equivalent
Skills/Qualifications:
Knowledge of soil structural analyses.
Knowledge of techniques to measure plant root traits.
Specific Requirements
Valid passport.
Full driving licence.
Ability to perform fieldwork in forest conditions.
Languages: FRENCH Level; Basic
Languages: ENGLISH Level; Good
