The Faculty of Natural Sciences invites applications for the position of a Tenure Track Professor (W1) of Functional Plant Ecophysiology at the Institute of Biology to be filled in the summer semester 2024. This is a grade W1-professorship for which recruitment payments can be offered.

The successful candidate (f/m/d) is an excellent early career researcher focusing on functional or molecular aspects of plant ecophysiology. Possible research areas include plant environment interactions, plant resilience against biotic or abiotic stress, or the mechanisms of stress adaptation. The applicant is expected to engage in interdisciplinary cooperation, both within the Institute of Biology as well as in larger intra- and extramural research projects.

The candidate contributes to teaching in the BSc und MSc programs in Biology and in Agricultural Biology, offering modules in the wider area of their own research interests. The teaching load will comprise four contact hours per week. After successful completion of the tenure-track period, the professor will be expected to cover the entire field of plant physiology with an emphasis on the molecular and biochemical aspects of plant stress and developmental physiology. In the future, the candidate should be able to teach both in German and in English.

The position offers attractive conditions for tenure-track appointees. This professorship is particularly suitable for highly qualified early career researchers. The requirements for an appointment are a completed university degree, pedagogical suitability and a doctorate of outstanding quality.

The appointment to a W3-position may be done without any additional call for applications and through a simplified appointment process.

With equal qualifications, preference will be given to candidates with disabilities. The University of Hohenheim seeks to increase the proportion of women in research and teaching and therefore strongly encourages female scientists to apply.
