A post-doc position in Prof. Christian Fankhauser lab to study light-regulated metabolism / resource reallocation when plants need to grow out of the shade; UNIL is a leading international teaching and research institution, with over 5,000 employees and 17,000 students split between its Dorigny campus, CHUV and Epalinges. As an employer, UNIL encourages excellence, individual recognition and responsibility.
Presentation: The Center for Integrative Genomics of the University of Lausanne invites applications for a postdoctoral position in the group of Christian Fankhauser to work in the area of plant responses to their environment.
This position is for a project funded by the Velux foundation aimed at understanding how changes in the light environment regulate resource reallocation from the leaves towards growing stems.
Job information: Expected start date in position: 01.09.2023 or to be discussed, Contract length: 1 year, renewable depending on funding availability, Activity rate: 100% (a minimum of 85% of the activity rate for research, a maximum of 15% of the activity rate for institutional and teaching tasks) Workplace: University of Lausanne – Dorigny Campus
Your responsibilities
The candidate will use a combination of molecular genetics, plant photobiology, cell biology, and biochemical approaches to understand how changes in the light environment regulate resource reallocation from the leaves towards growing stems. Relevant publications on this topic from the Fankhauser group include de Wit et al., 2018 in PNAS and Ince et al., 2022 in Nat Comm.
The successful candidate will also have the opportunity to gain teaching and mentoring experience through contributions to undergraduate and graduate teaching programs and the supervision of student projects.
