Two Teaching Assistantships in Dr. Allyse Ferrara’s Bayousphere Research Lab will be available for the Fall 2023 semester for the Master of Science in Marine and Environmental Biology program at Nicholls State University. Teaching Assistantships include tuition wavier and stipend of $4,800 a semester.

- B.S. degree in science curriculum
- Minimum undergraduate GPA of 3.0
- Combined GRE (verbal + quantitative) of 300

The successful applicants will conduct laboratory and field research on an NSF funded functional genomics and husbandry project using Spotted Gar. Graduate researchers will be responsible for brood stock collection and care and maintenance of brood stock, embryos and juveniles in laboratory and outdoor facilities.
With committee guidance, graduate-level thesis projects will be developed to improve embryo and juvenile production of Spotted Gar and/or assess possible epigenetic differences among Spotted Gar populations. Applicants must have field experience including trailering, towing and operating small boats. Previous experience working with fishes is highly desirable.
Two competitively available graduate teaching assistant positions are offered for the Fall 2023 semester in the Master of Science in Marine and Environmental Biology program at Nicholls State University. Teaching Assistantships include a tuition waiver and stipend of $4,800 per semester (total of $9,600 per academic year).
In addition to the 8-month teaching assistant stipend, four months of summer and winter salary are available for each graduate assistant ($1,750 per month). Funds are available for one student beginning in June 2023.
