Doctoral students of the Faculty of Natural Sciences of Comenius University in Bratislava are integral members of the Slovak university elite who carry with them prestige and considerable responsibilities. During their studies they develop scientific thinking, enhance their scientific overview, gain the ability to pass on their acquired knowledge to younger generations, and so society can therefore expect their conveyance of morality, ethics and etiquette.

The success of doctoral studies is based on the traditional requirement for original scholarship which will make a material contribution to the candidate’s chosen field. In order to accomplish this, each doctoral candidate develops a project of study, research and practice which provides the raw material for a project or dissertation within the chosen discipline.

Admision and PhD positions:

Please review the application instructions below carefully before beginning an application. Most doctoral study programmes begin in September, but the deadline for applications is May 31st. You should begin collecting information on recruitment as soon as possible.

Although new scholarships are advertised throughout the whole year, competition for positions increases the closer you get to May 31st. Once you apply, it is important to either get in touch with a potential supervisor, or at least check that our research interests offerred here correspond with your interests.

Overall timetable of admission procedures for doctoral studies:

February – April 2023: „FIRST CONTACT preliminary information, particularly about the specifications of the apostille or the superlegalization of documents of your studies

March – May 2023: submission of registration forms for doctoral studies

June 21, 2023: admissions to doctoral studies

June 22, 2023: publicizing of admission results

June – August 2023: apostille or the superlegalization of documents of your studies

September 2023: registration for studies
