A graduate student position is available in our laboratory to conduct studies of domestication and breeding of eastern oyster in the Gulf of Mexico as part of the Gulf of Mexico Oyster Genetics and Breeding Research Consortium. Potential research topics include estimation of genetic and genomic parameters for disease resistance, response to selection for performance in different salinity environments, or assessment of triploid production based on selected lines.

Qualifications: Candidates should possess a Bachelor’s degree in a relevant field (e.g. Biology, Ecology & evolutionary biology, Fisheries science) when applying for this position.
