In the field of soil chemistry with pedology at the Institute for Soil Science and Site Studies at the University of Hohenheim, the position of a research assistant is available from October 1st, 2023 (or flexible) as part of the project “Extraction of aluminum and iron from organic association” funded by the German Research Foundation in soil – development of a new selective method” for an initial period of three years. The position offers the opportunity for a doctorate. Remuneration is based on TV-L E13 (65%).
Your tasks include the development and application of a selective method for the extraction of Al and Fe from organic association in soils. To do this, you will carry out extractions on soil and synthetic model substances and quantify the metals released. They characterize the soil organic matter involved using spectroscopic methods, evaluate the data statistically and write scientific publications.
Ideally, you are a graduate (M. Sc.) in environmental, geo, soil, agricultural sciences, chemistry or another project-related course, have experience with soil sampling, their (wet-chemical) characterization and UV visible and infrared spectroscopy.
To apply: Please send your application as a pdf document to Prof. Thilo Rennert ( t.rennert@uni-hohenheim.de ) by July 15, 2023.
