The ZEW – Leibniz Centre for European Economic Research in Mannheim, Germany, is a non-profit economic research institute and works in the field of applied empirical economic research. The institute is integrated into a dense national and international network of universities and research institutes.

The Research Department “Environmental and Climate Economics” is recruiting at the earliest date possible a  Doctoral Researcher (f/m/d, 75 %) in Environmental and Climate Economics The main focus of your activities at ZEW will be to conduct scientific research in environmental, climate, and public economics and work on demanding economic policy advising projects.

Applicants should have a strong interest to study the economics of climate change mitigation and to conduct economic assessments of climate and energy policy using a quantitative and empirical approach drawing on numerical economic modelling and simulations techniques. Candidates should have completed a Master’s degree (or equivalent) in economics, mathematics (preferably with a minor in economics) or related academic fields with a good/very good grade. Very good quantitative and writing skills are essential.

Fluency in English (spoken and written) is required. German language skills are an asset. Capacity for teamwork is essential. Remuneration is based on the TV-L statutory salary scale and its associated public sector benefits.
