PhD student (m/f/d) The Leibniz Institute of Plant Biochemistry in Halle (Saale), a research institute of the Leibniz Association, is offering a three-year position in the frame of a DFG-funded project for a PhD student (m/f/d) at the Department of Metabolism and Cell Biology, working group “Jasmonate Function & Mycorrhiza”.

We are looking for a highly motivated PhD student (m/f/d) to study the genetic and molecular interactions of different transcription factors during gynoecia development and fruit set in tomato. The work is based on our previous data (Schubert et al. [2019], Plant Cell 31:1043-1062; Israeli et al. [2023], Plant Physiology 192:2336-2355) and will provide insight into the coordinated function of MYBs and ARFs in the cross-talk between auxin and JA in tomato reproduction. Molecular biological and biochemical methods will be applied.

The project is a collaborative project with the Hebrew University of Jerusalem, Israel. The potential candidates (m/f/d) should be creative, ambitious and highly motivated.
Fascination for plant physiology as well as for the investigation of plant developmental processes and the regulation of gene expression is required. Previous experience in plant biology is an advantage, but not strictly required. Good writing and communication skills are, however, essential.

Prerequisites: Completed Master’s Degree in biology, biochemistry or agricultural sciences The Department of Metabolic and Cell Biology offers a creative and international environment, therefore knowledge of the English language is an advantage.
The salary is based on the grid of the public service of the federal states (TV-L).
