Doctoral Scholarships for Candidates from the Global South, Call 2026 Ghent University, Belgium; Ghent University (Belgium) is offering Special Research Fund (BOF) Doctoral Scholarships for outstanding PhD candidates from eligible Global South countries. This *“sandwich”* scholarship enables researchers to split their PhD research between Ghent University and a partner university in their home regionfostering strong North–South academic collaboration.

• Open to citizens of eligible Global South countries with proposals co-submitted by supervisors at Ghent University and a Southern partner
• No field restrictions, though preference is given to research with clear North–South relevance.
• Scholarship funds 24 months of research in Ghent (within a 48-month PhD trajectory); candidates must secure funding for the 24 months in the South.
• Includes research funding in Belgium, travel budget, and support for supervisors.
