The Biotech Agrifood Research Group at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences, Universitat de València (UV) is seeking outstanding PhD candidates willing to apply for a competitive FPU (Formación de Profesorado Universitario) fellowship.
PhD project overview:
The selected candidate will carry out a multidisciplinary PhD thesis, receiving advanced training in cutting-edge experimental and analytical techniques, including:
- In vitro assays and advanced in vitro digestion models
- Cell culture techniques
- Omics approaches (e.g., metabolomics, proteomics)
- HPLC–QTOF analysis and data interpretation
- Work with lactic acid bacteria and applied microbiology
- Translational research in agrifood biotechnology
In addition, the PhD candidate will gain experience in:
- Participation in national and international scientific conferences
- Scientific writing and publication of research articles
- Teaching activities at the Faculty of Pharmacy and Food Sciences
Structured research training:
Candidates will also take part in the official courses included in the UV Doctoral Programme in Food Sciences.
Eligibility & candidate profile:
- Master’s degree in Biotechnology, Microbiology, Food Science, Nutrition, Biochemistry, or related fields
- Excellent academic record: minimum GPA of 8.5/10 (Spanish grading scale or equivalent)
- Strong motivation for multidisciplinary research
- Previous laboratory experience is highly valued
- Proficiency in English; Spanish is a plus
