The PhD role is part of the CORRAL project, a consortium of 28 partners across 9 countries. In collaboration with The Hague municipality, researchers will develop a pioneering “Growing Dune Landscape” in Scheveningen.

Inspired by the Zandmotor, this initiative uses natural processes—such as wind-driven sediment deposition and vegetation growth—to strengthen coastal defense systems.

Your Research Focus

  • Investigate how coastal dunes evolve in urban environments
  • Conduct fieldwork using GPS surveys, drones, and remote sensing
  • Model dune and vegetation dynamics using the AeoLiS model
  • Translate findings into actionable insights for policymakers and stakeholders

PhD Requirements

  • MSc in Hydraulic Engineering, Civil Engineering, Physical Geography, or related field

Postdoctoral Position: AI for Coastal Climate Adaptation

Project: HARCCA & DIGI-ADAPT Platform

The Postdoc position is part of the HARCCA project, involving 22 partners across Europe. The focus is on building the DIGI-ADAPT platform—an advanced AI-powered geoportal for climate risk assessment.

Your Role

  • Lead development of the DIGI-ADAPT AI platform
  • Integrate multi-hazard climate and socio-economic data
  • Collaborate with engineers, policymakers, and digital experts
